Monster Fish: Chasing 10-foot Sturgeon in Hells Canyon (4K)
Lurking deep in the Hells Canyon section of the Snake River are fish the size of dragons. Sturgeon over 10 feet long thrive in the big, brawling river and they are said to be the hardest fighting ones on earth because of the heavy currents in which they live.
Join me (@fishwithjd ) as I hunt for monster fish with my good buddy, guide Tom Bullock, who works for fishstotts.com/
Hells Canyon runs along the Idaho/Washington border south of Lewiston, ID and is truly a spectacular setting for our adventure. The fast rapids and epic, towering canyon walls are worth seeing -- even if you never wetted a line.
And don't even get me started on how cool the jet boat ride into the canyon is!
In addition to hunting 10-foot sturgeon, we fished light tackle for smallmouth bass which was also a blast.
This is truly a bucket list type of trip and I highly recommend it to anybody who doesn't mind pulling on river monsters until your arms feel like they are going to fall off!

A Day In the Life: Fishing Guide vs Old Man Winter ❄️

Join me for a Day in the Life of a fishing guide as I deal with snow and freezing conditions. It’s me vs Old Man winter as temps are down to 12 degrees in the morning and we have snow and ice everywhere…including in my boat. I of course forgot to bring a shovel so I had to get creative to get the snow out of the boat. To complicate things, I can’t even get into the cabin because the door is fro...

Winter Fishing Challenge at Lake Tahoe: 3 SPECIES SHOWDOWN!

Lake Tahoe has several different species: Lake Trout (mackinaw), Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout and Kokanee Salmon. Kokanee aren't really happening in the wint...

Shot mainly with a GoFISH Cam, I got some really cool video of fish hitting live bait, salmon roe, spoons and plugs. What's really crazy is seeing how many fish follow and/or miss the ...

I'd like to find out what the biggest salmon record would be on the Skagit River in Washington state? It's my favorite river to fish for salmon. And the Springers are running in it right now. So far I've landed 2 around the 20 pound range but I've seen a few in there recently that gotta be closer to the 30 pound range?!

Now days a big king weighs in the area of 25-30 pounds. My biggest was a white king from the Chilliwack River in BC weighing 65 pounds. I got a nice picture of it and gave it to an old couple who hadn’t landed any fish. I’m not big on white meat kings so it was easy for me to give away and the old couple were delighted. It took me about 45 minutes to land the fish and was the thrill of my life. I’m glad I didn’t loose it because at 76 years old and the dwindling stock of big fish the opportunity for me to ever catch another big fish are nil. But who knows. And that’s what fishing is all about. A bigger one might be swimming around out there right now.
